Summer South – Mediterranean Light

A child in a striped shirt sits on a rocky Mediterranean hillside, back to us, looking out over the sea. Between them and the water lies a scrubland of low green bushes, pale limestone and dry gold grass; on the horizon, a long blue island.

This is the Adriatic in high summer — the heat is in the colour rather than the subject. Warm ochres and hard sunlight against that unmistakable band of deep blue.
